This driver allows the direct coupling of computers that run Novell's
network software. Only PCs on the same physical segment are reachable.
Traffic over routers, bridges or multiport routers is not possible.
IPXN uses an IPX driver, which must be loaded before IPXN. This driver
uses Ethernet broadcasts and all stations listen, quite analogous to an
HF channel. Therefore, no IPX routing needs to be set up, and every station
can trace the traffic of other PC/FlexNet stations.
The usage of this driver does only make sense if there is already a
Novell installation. The Novell IPX driver is NEITHER public domain NOR
freeware! If the IPX protocol should be used without Novell software, the
IPXPD driver should be used, which interfaces to the well known freeware
packet drivers. On the ethernet side, both IPXN and IPXPD are compatible.
Please note: PDIPX.COM (public domain from Intel) does not run with
FlexNet, because it is obviously not able to receive IPX broadcasts. If
someone makes different experiences, please mail to DK7WJ!
